Ryan Reith, IDC

Danielle Levitas,

10:00 Winning Language of Mobility -- Telco's Co-petition Strategies
Kitty Fok, General Manager, IDC China

Synopsis

With the development of mobile communication technology, the acceleration of terminal intelligence and the rapid development of Internet industry, the three indispensable components of mobile Internet - network, terminal and application, are evolving in their respective fields. Terminal manufacturers are gradually permeating into the fields of content providers and virtual operators, while Web 2.0 companies are gradually penetrating into operation and terminal manufacturing areas. No matter what changes are undergoing, the whole ecosystem players are is competing to control end user interface. During this process, Web 2.0 companies never stop their pace. In 2013, four major Internet portals all enhanced their mobile Internet strategies, updated their organizational structure and gradually penetrated into and cannibalizing the original telecom industryopportunities. With the diversified options for Internet access and more intensified competition, mobile operators, controllers of the traditional user interface, gradually lose their user stickiness and previous competitive advantages and can't lead the ecosystem with their previously closed minded thinking, but more openly embrace mutual penetration and integration among different ecosystem players.

Based on profound researches and understanding of telecom and mobile Internet industries, IDC will analyze how telecom operators play their role in the three indispensable components - network, terminal and application, , by leveraging their unique and irreplaceable capabilities and advantages, to tackle with currently intensified competition and form sound co-opetition relations with different ecosystem players to promote a sound development of their own and the whole mobile industry.

11:00 People, Platforms and Productivity: How We Use, Monetize and Manage Devices
Danielle Levitas, Group Vice President, Consumer, Clients & New Media

Synopsis

In the age of consumerization of IT, individuals are having a marked effect on how and which devices are purchased and used for both personal and business purposes. Peoples' attitudes towards technology have become increasingly need to have vs. nice to have as devices become even more useful with the wealth of applications available and the increasingly ubiquitous access to data services. Competing platforms and ecosystems are impacting how vendors, operators and businesses monetize and capitalize on mobile. Understanding how IT organizations are contending with this flood of devices and which technologies and approaches can best manage BYoD are critical for mobilizing the workplace productively and securely. In this session, Ms. Levitas will present relevant findings from an array of IDC's research initiatives including key insights from our global ConsumerScape 360º study and our recent BYoD study.
